Dania Olivares is a self-taught emerging mixed media artist borne in McAllen (Texas) and raised in small border town in Mexico called Diaz Ordaz. Olivares moved to Monterrey, Mexico to continue her education and earned a bachelor's degree in economics from el Tec de Monterrey. As an economist, Olivares began her professional career working in privately owned financial institutions.
In 2011, Olivares moved to McAllen, Texas with her family. Looking for the next career opportunity, Olivares decided to follow her childhood dream of becoming an artist after learning of a small art festival in the city. Olivares used her savings to prepare for the show, and set up her area with just a chair and a folding table. The response to Olivares' work was overwhelming, and she began to showcase her work in other art shows. Five years later, Olivares continues to sell in McAllen, as well as in Houston and Austin, and is working to establish her own art brand. She has become increasingly well-known throughout South Texas for her use of vibrant colors, her trees with crystal leaves, and her wood hearts featuring inspirational quotes. |
